1. Case Study - Radeea Ali
Following a visit to my local Jobcentre Plus for help, almost two weeks in, my advisor told me about the
Yellow Brick Road and Prince’s Trust retail and customer service training program. As I had no experience in either of
these, I signed up straight away and sent off my C.V., hoping and praying that I’d get a place. I heard from Cheryl and
Natalie soon afterwards and went for an interview, then a taster day, and that’s when I knew I really wanted to be on the
program for definite. So when I got a call from Cheryl saying I had a place on the program, it was the best feeling every.
On the program I started off as my shy, quiet, self, but as it went on, with the help and guidance of Cheryl and Natalie I
started to see a change in myself. My confidence started to soar and I felt that I could do whatever I put my mind to. There
are no words to describe how much Cheryl and Natalie have helped me find myself, seeing two people have faith in me
the way they did made me want to work at my best as I didn’t want to let them down.
The person I am today is largely to do with both Cheryl and Natalie and the way they delivered this program. Wherever my
life may take me, I will never forget that without them, I wouldn’t have taken these steps now. I am starting work soon as
a customer service/admin assistant at the Burnley Jobcentre. I have a few projects starting up and most importantly I
have found my passion for writing again. I know this program is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and
I would recommend it to any young person as it helped me decide who I want to be and what I want to do; and I am
positive it will do the same for others.
